Yves Saint Laurent ‘Rouge Volupté Sheer Candy’

January 8, 2012

Last week, my mom and I went out to stock up on makeup and start on one of our beauty resolutions for the year. We vowed to be more experimental with makeup colors. I couldn’t be happier with the choice we made because in the process of meeting with our go-to makeup artist, Cynthia at Bobby Brown, we discovered she recently made the switch to be the YSL beauty specialist of Bloomingdales. In talking with her and catching up on the latest at BB and YSL, I was introduced to my new obsession; Yves Saint Laurent ‘Rouge Volupté Sheer Candy.’ This glossy balm should be part of every girls 2012 beauty resolutions. When Cynthia first pulled out ‘Sweet Fig’ [the color pictured above] I was a bit intimidated by the color. When I finally tried it on, she and my mom described to me that it looked like I went on vacation and had some instant color and life added to my face. Hmm, I’ll take it! The balm left a hint of color without seeming overbearing or too much for everyday use. This is exactly what I was looking for for this time of year. Let’s face it, in the dead of winter we can all use a little help in the color department.

I’ve never been one to wear lipstick or gloss as part of my everyday makeup routine, but when I discovered the benefits of Rouge Volupté Sheer Candy, [and saw how incredible it looked on], I knew I was about to make an easy addition to my beauty regimen. Unlike some lipsticks which can leave your pout looking parched and unnatural after continuous use, RVSC delivers vitamins and antioxidant-rich fruit extract to your lips, ensuring total moisturization and protection for hours. The RVSC balm was designed to hold 1,000 times its own weight in water!

The Breakdown-

Packaging-The product is surprisingly a bit heavy. However, don’t think too much into it. You won’t notice it weighing down your shoulder in your bag, I promise! This is a sign of quality packaging and a classic aesthetic which you’ll be excited to reach for every time you reapply.

Coverage- I was pleasantly surprised how far just two swipes of RVSC went on my lips! The key to avoid looking overdone is to not press too hard when applying! Just a gentle swipe back and forth/top and bottom before pressing your lips together will deliver the results you’re looking for. Also, give it a few minutes before the color reaches its full potential!

Smell-With pomegranate extracts in the formula, the hint of the succulent fruit in the balm is light and refreshing at the same time.

Do I have you convinced? Head to Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, Saks, Sephora, or Nordstrom to pick yours up!
