Live Colorfully

April 7, 2011

Last night while furniture shopping with a friend, I came across some yellow bathroom accessories and thought to myself how you very rarely see people experiment with the color yellow. What is it about bright colors that makes people afraid? Why are we so programmed to opt for a safe neutral or black but shy away from adding life into our wardrobe through mixing and trying on brights? Finding a shade that you feel comfortable and confident in and that compliments your skin tone and coloring is perhaps half the battle. However, it shouldn’t be a battle at all but a way of expanding your clothing comfort zone. As a side note, I rarely ever buy anything before I try it on because truly, something that you may never think to be flattering on a hanger could look stunning on you. I promise, trying on that bright pink cardigan you’ve been eyeing up this season can be your own little secret if you’re afraid it will be too loud or as some make the excuse, “not something I would normally wear.” Well here is my response to that: if it looks amazing on you, then MAKE it something you normally wear. Who says your style has to stay the same forever?
