Cinnamon Sugar & Sour Cream Chocolate Chip Cake

The thought of sour cream (at least to me anyway) sounds quite unappetizing. However, when I had this cake a few weeks ago the last thing I would have guessed was there was 1& 1/2 cups sour cream in the ingredients. After finally finding some time to make the cake, I was most looking forward to the toppings-cinnamon & sugar separating the bottom layer of the cake from the top–of course more of the sugary mix was added to the top before baking for an hour to add a crisp and tasty first bite.

The recipe called for mini chocolate chips, but I opted for regular size which added extra chocolate flavor. The actual cake was light and didn’t have an overpowering sour cream taste. Like I first mentioned, you don’t even taste the sour cream but it really acts as an enhancer for the rest of the flavors. All in all: a successful combination.
